Ingredients:
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and molasses in a medium saucepan. Whisk vigorously until the brown sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture is a uniform, deep red color.
- Turn the heat to medium until the sauce reaches a gentle bubble, then immediately reduce the heat to low.
- Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Let the sauce simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching, until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon in a velvety layer.
- Remove the pan from the heat, adjust seasoning if necessary, and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before transferring it to an airtight glass jar.
