Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 lean)
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 3 tbsp taco seasoning
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions:
- Place the raw ground beef into the bottom of the slow cooker and pat it down into an even layer. Note: Keeping it flat helps it cook evenly.
- Pour the chunky salsa, beef broth, taco seasoning, minced garlic, and lime juice directly over the top of the beef.
- Cover with the lid and cook on High for 4 hours until the meat is fully cooked and fragrant.
- If you prefer the Low setting, cook for 8 hours.
- Use a wooden spoon or fork to break the beef into small, uniform crumbles.
- Stir everything together to combine the meat with the sauce.
- Check the liquid level. If it's too runny, leave the lid off.
- Cook on high for an additional 15-30 minutes until the sauce is thick and glossy.
- Stir one last time and remove from the heat.
